** Join EDG’s Satellite Meditation Group (SMG) for a New Book Study! **

Starting March 29, SMG will explore *Buddhism. One Teacher, Many Traditions by The Dalai Lama and Venerable Thubten Chodron with a foreword by Bhante Gunaratana.

If you’d like to participate, email us at vsmg.mgr@gmail.com for weekly reminders and the Zoom link. We meet virtually on Saturday mornings at 10 AM for a 30-minute gentle guided Vipassana meditation, followed by an hour of book reading and discussion.

About the book:

“Buddhism is practiced by hundreds of millions of people worldwide, from Tibetan caves to Tokyo temples to redwood retreats. In this book, His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Venerable Thubten Chodron map out the convergence and divergence of the two major Buddhist movements—the Sanskrit traditions of Tibet and East Asia and the Pāli traditions of Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia.

The authors consider Buddhism’s core practices and tenets, such as the four noble truths, the practice of meditation, the cultivation of love, and the meaning of nirvāa, and how the traditions sometimes agree and sometimes differ in their interpretations. The authors respectful approach illuminates the many ways that all forms of Buddhism, amid their rich diversity, share a common heritage and common goals.” (Source: Ven Thubten Chodron’s website, including book cover).

Detailed information and a 20-minute video introduction by Venerable Thubten Chodron on the story behind the book can be viewed on her website here: https://thubtenchodron.org/books/buddhism-one-teacher-many-traditions/
