Walk 2017 BGR

Bhikkhu Bodhi’s Walk to Feed The Hungry…

Mark your calendar | Nov 4

Founded by Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi and others, the mission of Buddhist Global Relief (BGR) is to provide relief to the poor and needy throughout the world regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, or religion. Each year, people in various US cities come together to walk and /or donate to this noble cause.

This year’s walk will again start at the Houston Zen Center at 1605 Heights Blvd. Houston, TX 77008. We will walk along the Heights Esplanade Trail on Heights Boulevard, a beautiful setting for a walk of compassion with friends! We invite everyone to participate by registering to walk, making a donation, or volunteering. Your efforts and generosity will help with programs that provide direct relief, promote sustainable agriculture, and provide education and right livelihood opportunities for the less fortunate one.

The 3.1 mile walk will begin at the Houston Zen Center. We will then walk south down Heights Boulevard towards I-10 and turn around to end the walk at the Zen Center. Participants may turn around at any point to return to the Zen Center as needed. Please bring hats, water bottles, sunblock or anything else you might need for the walk, including musical instruments. After the walk there will be closing words from distinguished guests followed by a light potluck lunch and refreshments.
