What we do
In 2008, the English Dharma Group started to provide support for prison ministry programs in Bryan and five years later in Livingston, TX.
Our volunteers are dedicated to fostering meditation practices and exposing the inmates to the Dharma. The program is designed to instill compassion and loving kindness, helping those in need under a prison environment to develop a positive perspective on life. Besides meditation, our volunteers aid prisoners in the study of Buddhist teachings and encourage the Buddhist practice of non-violence as an ideal means of change and rehabilitation when reentering society.
Are you interested in helping?
Currently, the prison ministry consists of two volunteers who visit both prisons on a regular basis. We are actively seeking volunteers to extend our Saturday service to inmates in Bryan.
